Dozens dead in tourist bus crash in Portugal
At the very least 28 folks had been reported killed and others injured after a tourist bus overturned in a coastal city on the Portuguese island of Madeira on Wednesday.
Filipe Sousa, the mayor of Canico the place the accident occurred, informed the Lusa information company that many of the vacationers on board had been German.
“I’ve no phrases to explain what occurred. I can’t face the struggling of those folks,” Sousa informed Portugese tv station SIC TV.
German newspaper Bild reported that 9 German vacationers had been among the many dead.
Sousa says the bus carrying 55 folks rolled down a steep hillside Wednesday after veering off the highway on a bend east of the capital, Funchal.
