Tanyaradzwa ‘Tanya’ Muzinda is one of those few whiz kids who inspire not just their age mates, but others older than them.
At the tender teenage age of 15, Tanya is one Zimbabwe’s Motocross champions. It should be noted that Motocross is a very complicated, adventurous but fun motorbike racing sports.
CNN reports that despite the challenges inherent in the sport, the little girl has never stopped competing both at the local and international levels.
Tanya, who was born in Harare, her country’s capital, told CNN that she started racing at the age of five, toeing the path of her father who was a biker.
“My dad used to ride motorbikes in the past so I got the motivation for Motocross from him,” she said.
Despite the fact that she has had some injuries practicing the sport, young Tanya has not wavered a bit. It was reported that in 2107 the biker fell off over a long feet jump, affecting her hip in the process.
According to her, she was only able to walk properly months after the incident, adding that the accident also affected her back.
Two years ago, she won the third place in the 2017 HL Racing British Master Kids Championship in England, adding that it was a race she would not forget hurriedly.
“It was my first race overseas and I managed to finish in third place. I also left a record for being the first female rider to win a round since its inception,” she said.
Also worthy of note is that she is the honorary ambassador of the European Union to Zimbabwe for Youth, Gender, Sports and Development.
Tawanda Muzinda, her father, has said that one of the challenges his daughter faces is that the sport is an expensive one as motorbikes and gear could cost between $900 and $5000.

Her financial obstacle nonetheless, she has been giving back to the people in her immediate society as she in August paid school fees for 45 students. The young athlete said she hopes to help at least 500 people before 2020 ends.
“Most of the children I paid for are girls because when parents don’t have enough money to send their kids to school, they’d prefer to send the boy child,” she said.
