The Spanish outfit did not however disclose why the tactician was relived of his duties.

“Valencia told Marcelino Garcia Toral on Wednesday that he is no longer first team coach,” a club statement said.

The club would like to thank him for his work and dedication during his time at our entity and wish him success for the future,” the statement added.

Marcelino joined Valencia two seasons ago, winning them the Copa del Rey last season after stunning Barcelona in the finals.

He also managed to secure a Champions League slot for The Oranges this season after finishing fourth in the La Liga last campaign.

Reports in Spain now suggest Albert Celades could replace Marcelino in the Valencia hot-seat.

Celades is currently without a job in football having most recently been an assistant to Lopetegui at Real Madrid at the start of last season.
