– Mohamed Salah is under heavy criticisms from teammates and fans for being selfish
– The Egyptian forward goes for goal himself even when his teammates have better chances of scoring
– Oxlade-Chamberlain accused the forward but admitted he does what he needs to do
Liverpool winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has accused his teammate Mohamed Salah of being selfish with the ball when he has it.
The Egyptian forward had a clash with Sadio Mane last month after failing to string a pass to the Senegalese, who was at a vantage position of scoring.
Mane however busted out after being substituted by his manager Jurgen Klopp on the sidelines smashing a bottle of water on the ground.
However, the England international believes he does not expect the forward to pass the ball all the time and still expect him to score many goals.
Oxlade-Chamberlain reacting to Football Focus’ ‘Finish the Sentence’ phrase ‘Mohamed Salah isn’t selfish because…’
“Isn’t selfish?” the England international quipped to BBC Sport . “Are you winding me up? The guy doesn’t pass to us. Are you mad? Ask Sadio!
“Mo Salah isn’t selfish because he’s a goalscorer,” he added. “He’s got to do that. We can’t expect him to pass us the ball all the time and him to score loads of goals.
“The way he plays wins us games, so he’s got to do what he’s got to do. He scores, we win the game. I’m happy. Mo, do what you want!”
Salah has scored four goals and two assists in all competitions for the Reds this season and he is likely to start when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
