Another top European club sack coach just 7 matches into 2019-20 season for 1 reason

– Marco Giampaolo parts ways with AC Milan just two months into the 2019-20 season

– The 52-year-old was sacked after losing four of his last seven matches in the Serie A this season

– Giampaolo was hired as replacement for Gattuso in the summer of 2019

– AC Milan have however lined up Stefano Pioli as replacement for the Swiss boss

AC Milan have terminated the contract of their head coach Marco Giampaolo just seven matches into the 2019-20 Serie A season.

The Rossoneri are currently 13th on the Italian League table with just nine points so far this campaign.

Giampaolo was appointed new manager of the club this summer – replacing club legend Gennaro Gattuso as the new head coach at the San Siro Stadium.

Football Italia however reports that the 52-year-old could be succeeded by former Fiorentina and Inter boss Stefano Pioli.

The seven time Champions League winners announced the departure of their manager on the club’s official website.

The statement reads: “AC Milan announces it has relieved Mr. Marco Giampaolo from his position as coach of the First Team.

The Club is grateful to Marco for the work carried out and wishes him all the best to come in his professional career.”

Giampaolo managed just three wins out of their last seven matches – losing 12 out of a possible 21 available in the past matches.

Though, he guided his side to a 2-1 away win against Genoa last weekend, it was not enough to save his job few days after the victory.

Milan were said to be interested in hiring Luciano Spalletti, however, they could not agree terms with their city rivals over severance package with the coach.

The Red and Blacks have however turned to Pioli, who could put pen to paper according to Football Italian is likely on a one-year contract with the option of a second.

Pioli is not a stranger to Italian football having managed clubs like Inter Milan, Bologna, Parma, Fiorentina and Cheivio.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Barnsley have fired Daniel Stendel as manager following the Championship side’s difficult start to their campaign.

The outfit suffered a 5-1 thrashing by Preston on Saturday, October 5, dropping to 23rd on the log having gone 11 matches without a win.

Stendel, who led the club to automatic promotion to the Championship has been unable to guide his side to winning ways in the second tier.
