– Raheem Sterling has stated that he is not yet at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
– The Englishman said he will have to be scoring 50 goals a season to meet up with these two
– Sterling has so far scored 32 goals this year for Manchester City and England
Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has made it clear that he will have to be scoring 50 goals every season for him to be considered as good as Lionel Messi and Ronaldo.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are arguably the best footballers in the world for the past 10 years considering their achievements.
Raheem Sterling was recently named in the 30-man shortlist to compete for the Ballon d’Or award where he will face competition from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Lionel Messi has scored 35 goals for club and country in 2019, while Cristiano Ronaldo has 28 goals for Juventus and Portugal this year.
Sterling on the other hand has netted impressive 32 goals this year for club and country and he has spoken on Ronaldo and Messi.
“Messi’s one of a kind.
“Bro, if I’m scoring 50 or 60 goals a year for the next 15 years, then you can talk to me about that right now, don’t talk to me about Ronaldo or Messi!
“I don’t want to hear that connection.
“I’m not saying I don’t value myself, but those are two guys who have been doing it for 15 years,” Sterling told FourFourTwo.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Lionel Messi came out to reveal that he does not fancy the tag ‘god’ despite the fact that his ardent fans are keen on giving him holy names to match his brilliance.
Messi has for years been tipped as the greatest player to ever grace the beautiful game and while he has closely been rivaled by Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo, some of his records are simply hard to match by any stretch.
