Important Super Eagles star gets new coach at his club in England

– Michael O’Neill has been appointed as the new manager of Stoke City

– The 50-year-old replaces Nathan Jones who was thrown out recently

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo plays for the Championship club

Northern Irish football manager Michael O’Neill has been appointed as the new manager of Championship side Stoke City with task of saving the club from relegation this term.

The 50-year-old will now be handling the English club and also the Northern Ireland national team simultaneously.

Michael O’Neill is also expected to be in charge of Northern Ireland coming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Holland and Germany.

He got the job at Stoke City after the Championship side sacked Nathan Jones because of poor performances this season.

Stoke City will face fellow strugglers Barnsley in their next game on Saturday, November 9, and Michael O’Neill will be in charge.

“Stoke City are delighted to confirm the appointment of Michael O’Neill as the Club’s new manager.

“The 50-year-old heads to the bet365 Stadium after a hugely successful eight-year spell in charge of Northern Ireland during which time he became the first manager to lead them to the European Championship finals in 2016.

“O’Neill, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Club, will take charge of City at Barnsley tomorrow after he oversaw his first training session this morning,” Stoke City said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles star Oghenekaro Etebo plays for Stoke City and he will have to work hard for him to fall into O’Neill’s first squad.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how an unnamed Nigerian man from Warri in Delta state angrily blasted Super Eagles star Oghenekaro Etebo for reportedly abandoning Delta state for Lagos.

In a video which trended on social media, the aggrieved man accused Super Eagles star Etebo of not going back to Warri after becoming famous.
